- July 22 2007 MTV UK will be renamed and rebranded as MTV One featuring music, entertainment and reality shows from MTV's digital channels.

- Summer 2007: MTV R (MTV Replay) a new digital MTV channel in the UK, Republic of Ireland and other European countries a 24 hour entertainment channel.

- MTV Hungary launches Autumn 2007

- MTV Ukraine launches soon www.mtv.ua

- MTV Czech Republic (MTV CZ) will launch mid 2008.

- MTV2, MTV Hits and MTV Base will be re-branded

-MTV HD is set to launch in the UK and the Republic of Ireland later this year

Because no one, except for some rose-tinted glassed tv anoracks, is going to bloody watch if they play music (especially in the UK) as there are already 2 trillion channels out there doing the same thing.

Arab firm says it plans MTV Arabiya with Viacom unit.

MTV Arabiya



Arabian Television Network (ATN) said today it and MTV’s parent company Viacom would launch MTV Arabiya in the second half of 2007. ATN said in a statement the new 24-hour satellite station would tap the youth market in the Middle East where about half of the population is under 25 years of age.

The new free-to-air channel’s programming will include both MTV’s international shows and local programming, said ATN, a subsidiary of the newly launched Dubai-based Arabian Broadcasting Network. ATN said its partner in the project was MTV Networks International, a unit of Viacom Networks Europe Inc.

TMF to launch new look MTV Select

TMF UK is launching an "updated" version of MTV's classic interactive music show MTV Select.

TMF Live, fronted by Kate Edmondson (The Loaded Hour) and Carole Machin (TMF News), will air on the channel every weekday from 4-5pm beginning July 24.

True to the original format, the new show will take video requests from viewers and celebrities alike, as well as featuring entertainment news and interviews.

MTV Select ran on MTV between 1996 and 2002, launching the careers of Donna Air, Eden, Lars, Joanna Colen, Richard Blackwood and June Sarpong.

MTV Austria is to launch its first localised programme from October 2006. MTV Austria (which is a specific feed of MTV Central to Austrian audiences) will launch MTV 6 Pack a new “saucy mixture” of entertainment which promises to contain interesting topics such as social issues, fashion, lifestyle, music, sport and trends that are specific to Austrian youth. Each show will feature six local presenters who will be specialised in a specific field. The first show will air for 15 minutes at 20:00 CET on Tuesday, October 5 with transmission of further shows throughout October and by the end of October; airing seven times a day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays replacing MTV News Updates which are featured on the MTV Central feed in Germany and Switzerland. MTV Austria manager Dieter Schuller stated “one can describe the style at the best show on MTV for entertainment”.

MTV Austria special presenters include: Tamee Harrison, Diva Malika, Dunja Stachl, Manuel Bretterbauer, Markus Zbonek and Benedict Krischke.

MTV Austria is a specific feed of MTV Central also known as MTV Germany. MTV Austria is based on the well known format of MTV Central Europe launch as a German speaking MTV service in March 1997, sending its signal from Germany to Austria and Switzerland. MTV launched two separate advertising windows for Austria and Switzerland in 2006. MTV are currently looking at other opportunities for Austria “at present no further formats are in concrete planning but some hope for the future” as stated by MTV Austria manager Schuller.
